Carlos Baiz
University of Texas at Austin

Carlos Baiz studied chemistry at Michigan Technological University where he graduated in 2005. He then pursued a PhD joining Professor Kevin Kubarych’s group at the University of Michigan where he investigated the ultrafast condensed phase chemical dynamics with coherent multidimensional spectroscopy. In 2011, he joined Professor Andrei Tokmakoff’s group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and then followed him to the University of Chicago in 2013 to complete his postdoctoral fellowship. In 2015, he took a position as an assistant professor in the department of chemistry at the University of Texas Austin. His research group is particularly interested in using ultrafast two- dimensional spectroscopy to investigate protein folding, protein-membrane interactions and protein organization.
